about

Andrea Burelli shares "Ali di Fuoco", the second single from the upcoming full-length album "Sonic Mystics for Poems (of Life and Death of a Phoenix)"
180gr Vinyl LP / CD / Digital
Release date: 17/11/2023

I dedicate today's piece, “Ali di Fuoco” to all the children who are victims of this conflict and all the children suffering in conflicts around the world.

In a world like ours, where pain and cruelty seem to prevail, there is always a light that shines with an unparalleled intensity – love. Love is the path to redemption in a reality filled with hatred, vengeance, and a concept of justice that goes beyond even the law of retaliation, venting with anger, death, and absolute destruction, without any regard for life.

I myself strive not to harbor feelings of hatred, as they make me feel unwell. I seek to live in love, my driving force, as I grapple with my own anger, my greatest limitation. My passion for music comes from love; it's the only form of art that instantly bestows this emotion upon me as I engage with it. I've come to realize that it's not just me loving music, but it is music loving me in return. It's not a unilateral creation where I express ideas, but a two-way conversation, providing me with what I need to exist.

Today, on the 28th day of a bloody war that has claimed thousands of innocent lives, especially children, the most precious gems of our society, it's difficult to believe in love. We see very little of it, but we must persevere, we must do what we know how to do. So, even on this somber day, I endeavor to do something beautiful, to humbly contribute my small grain of sand, which, for me, has been synonymous with salvation. May this illuminate even a bit the dark night that shrouds our skies.

"Ali di Fuoco" is the only track within the album that deeply resembles a liturgical composition, thanks to the choirs and the way it is sung. I don't even know why it turned out this way. At this moment, I can't help but consider it a prayer, and I pray for these wonderful children, brimming with dreams, hopes, innocence, and magic. With their purity, they should be the ones governing the world.
